Border Ridge Ranch is a 1,280 acre ranch roughly 20 miles southwest of Bozeman, Montana. Though close to the city and its amenities, the ranch lies in a secluded mountain valley at the base of the Gallatin Mountain Range. The ranch straddles the border of Gallatin and Park counties, giving the property its name. Border Ridge Ranch serves as a retreat for Montana State University and hosts numerous private and public events throughout the year. Ranch events take place in a large events barn located at the ranch base. This structure is capable of hosting university-associated and private parties with up to 200 guests. The barn is set in a clearing at the valley floor and has expansive views of peaks across Gallatin National Forest. The space is suited for corporate retreats, university galas, weddings, and other large gatherings.
The ranch includes numerous cabins to accommodate visitors throughout the year with varying sizes and layouts. One and two-bedroom cabins are suited for families and small groups, while large bunkhouses supply accommodations for school groups, clubs, and other large organizations. The cabins are set on a scenic hillside with majestic views of the valley below. Two guesthouses lie behind the event barn to accommodate wedding parties and distinguished guests. Both the events barn and cabins have excellent access to Border Ridge Ranch’s extensive network of trails and backcountry roads. These routes supply access for hikers, off-road vehicles, and equestrians to locations across the property. Backcountry campsites exist throughout the site and provide space for undeveloped dispersed camping. Similarly, the Overlook Cabin is an remote, undeveloped cabin supplying even greater seclusion for adventurous visitors.





Ranch Base
In addition to providing a scenic retreat for Bozeman-area residents, university staff, students, and visitors. Border Ridge is a fully functional cattle ranch. Th e property’s ranch amenities include a large stable with room for tack and feed, a machine shop, vehicle storage, corrals, a hayfield, loafing sheds, and ample grazing space. The ranch’s 1,300 acres hosts 400 head of cattle and 20 horses across its open range. The ranch’s year-round working status provides employment for area ranch hands, who assist with ranch operations and event facilitation. Visitors to the ranch can participate in educational experiences and trail rides, led by experienced ranch staff and educators. Visitors can participate in multi-day pack trips on the ranch’s 16 miles of scenic trails. Scenic landscapes such as wetlands, steep cliffs, gulleys, and high mountain meadows lie along the winding trails.
